Lots of useful information for you!

MUST READ!! Instructions on how to use the oven, fire, etc. AND
Hints, Help & Answers about pets, disabled, children, plugs, etc.

Pictures and description of our gite. What do other people say about it? All sorts of emergency and general information (the first "at gite" page). A whole inventory!

How do you get in?

We had a 'visitor' over the winter. They washed up and everything, but even so! We now have a keysafe. The code is changed for each visitor. Let me explain. On the wall by the front door will be a box. It should have a rubber cover on - lift the strap top and bottom and the rubber box comes off. It's to make it waterproof - and as yet, I don't know if it is important. So please put it back on when you've done.

Press the C button, then press in your code (it will be from 4 to 10 numbers). Then slide down the open button and the whole door comes out (of the keysafe, not the gite!). Take out the key. Put the door back in (bottom first) and press C again. When you leave, pop the key back in for the next people - and press C again. Thank you!

The address

ChezNorris, Le Bisson, Maisoncelles la Jourdan, Vire, 14500, France.

If someone writes to you the key to the mailbox (which is by the gate) is in the rightmost little drawer of the kitchen dresser. Also the key to the cave is there (where the rubbish goes, the dryer lives and tools if needed!)

The phone number

From the UK is 00 33 2 31 66 02 17
in France 02 31 66 02 17

Emergencies

You have a phone in the kitchen. You have a phone book and Yellow Pages in the lounge.

Hospital

Dial 15. They do not send an ambulance!

Police

Dial 17

Fire Brigade/Ambulance

Dial 18 They DO send an ambulance!

Electricity

Power cuts happen in France. Certainly the power dims when they start milking next door. The mains switch (or rather knob) is behind the door in the Cave.

Water

If there is a water leak the mains water tap is beneath the circular concrete thing outside the dining room window. There is also a stopcock next to the oven which will isolate the bathrooms. There are also stopcocks on each toilet and the washing machine.

Whatever

If there is any problem at all - PHONE ME!! However if it is not something I can help you with then the people who do the changeover cleaning etc are on 02 33 51 91 41. This is your English contact for emergencies. They are called Brian and Bernadette. They will solve all your problems on my behalf. But they will ask me first if it is something spurious like 'please cut the grass again' only 5 days after it was last cut! Of course if you can speak French, Bernard lives just across the valley but has nothing to do with our cottage!

You also have my phone number. Please do try to tell me if there are any problems - I'd rather sort them immediately than hear about them after you've left. 00 44 1981 540061

Oh, by the way - see if you can find the cat!
